TECO Energy's main subsidiary, Tampa Electric, is planning to expand the Polk Power Station to serve future electricity needs. Plans call for converting the four natural gas-fired combustion turbines into a more efficient combined-cycle unit. Tampa Electric has formed a partnership with the Florida Aquarium and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, to create a conservation and technology park. When complete, the park will include:
